About Trickbits T3 Racing

Originally Trickbits Racing, Team Manager – Paul Jinks first discovered John Simpson in 2007. Being a young racer with such raw talent, Paul took John under his wing and worked on honing his skills.

Trickbits Racing worked with John throughout 2008. Riding a Triumph Daytona 675 and competing in the New Era Formula 600 Club Championship, New Era Sound of Thunder Club Championship and the New Era Sound of Thunder SuperClub Championship, John most certainly gave the team a year to remember.

In 2009 Trickbits Racing switched to a Yamaha R6 and entered John into the British Superbikes Superstock 600 Championship.  John tried his best at the start of the season but unfortunately could not get on with the R6. It was not until the Cadwell Park round when Paul threw John on his old Triumph to see what he could do. Then, to everybody’s astonishment, he won his first British Superbikes round. John continued the season on the Triumph and finished 16th place with 33 points.

Gaining valuable experience from 2009, the team now had clear direction for 2010. However up against power bikes like the Yamaha and Kawasaki, the team knew they were up for some hard times racing the Triumph.  Nevertheless, John did what he does best and took things to a new level by taking 3rd place in the first BSB round at Brands Hatch also achieving a new lap record. Unfortunately, due to an oversight by the team, John was disqualified for being officially found to be under the minimum weight requirement for the class.

T3 Racing supply accessories for the Triumph Daytona 675. Owner Tony Scott, is also renowned for his involvement in the Triumph Triple Challenge. In May 2010, Trickbits Racing teamed up with T3 Racing, taking full advantage of their knowledge and expertise with the Triumph Daytona 675 and its engine. T3 Racing kindly provided a new 2010 Triumph Daytona 675 complete with digital clocks. This was the edge that John needed. Delivered in time for the Cadwell Park round, John was back on top performance taking 1st place.

John’s goal was set for winning the championship but faced with some hindering mechanical issues, John’s hopes for a 1st place finish has now slipped away. However with the Triumph’s issues now resolved and John performing at the top of his game, a podium finish is most certainly doable.

In June 2010, Jordan Thompson joined the team. Suffering similar technical issues as John, Jordan’s introduction to the team was not trouble free. But now the hindering issues have been resolved, we hope that this will lead to a fantastic end to the season.
